Formal for Finance 2025: “Midnight in Paris”

The 2026 Formal for Finance hosted by Finance for Females & Friends alongside the Department of Finance, Insurance, and Business Law at the German Club Manor was a huge success. Celebrating the theme “Midnight in Paris,” we welcomed students, faculty, alumni, donors, and community partners for an unforgettable night of recognition, networking, and celebration within the Pamplin College of Business.

The event honored many of the department’s strongest supporters and student leaders. Distinguished guests included Dr. Michelle Seref, Dr. Vijay Singal, Dr. Raman Kumar, and Dean Saonee Sarker, along with faculty members and department supporters. A highlight of the night was the awards presentation recognizing outstanding leadership and service. Dr. Vijay Singal and Dr. Manisha Singal received the Tree Award for their financial stewardship and ongoing support. Ann Shawver was honored with the Owl Award for her mentorship and long-standing commitment to advancing students in finance. Among students, Hannah McLauchlin received the Peach Award for leadership and innovation, while Ariya Amin, Kendra Jones, and Olivia Batten earned Block Awards for loyalty and dedication to our organization.

Guests enjoyed music, dancing, and conversation in the transformed manor as they celebrated ambition, community, and connection. Reflecting on the evening, Mylie Gawitt, Chief of Special Events, noted, “The Formal for Finance was a beautiful celebration of ambition, community, and connection.” The event highlighted the department’s continued mission to empower students in finance and uphold Virginia Tech’s motto of Ut Prosim—That I May Serve. All proceeds from the formal went towards Finance for Females & Friends’ WOW Initiative, which educates high school students about finance careers, including those on Wall Street.
